Scent, smoke and ritual

My world of incense

Herbs, resins, sets and accessories for incense, with clear details on scent, use and tradition.

Incense ritual with a bowl and warm light

Charcoal or warmer: how to burn incense.

On glowing incense charcoal, resins and herbs release their scent quickly and strongly. On an incense warmer with a mesh screen and a tealight, the smoke stays milder and can be dosed for longer. For both: a fireproof base, a little sand in the vessel and a short airing afterwards.

Resins
Frankincense, myrrh or dragon's blood go a long way and smell intense. They need charcoal or a well-heated warmer.
Herbs
Sage, mugwort and house blends are finer. On the mesh screen they smoulder slowly without burning.
Accessories
Charcoal, sand, mesh screen and tongs make burning incense safe. The right vessel holds it all together.

Frequently asked questions about My world of incense.

What does the world of incense at Aaliechtli include?

The world of incense includes loose incense, house blends, sets, vessels, accessories and a selection of fragrance products.

How are the uses of incense described?

Texts on use stay factual and rooted in tradition. Personal questions can be answered directly in the shop or by email.

What is the difference between incense charcoal and an incense warmer?

On glowing charcoal, resins and herbs release their scent quickly and strongly. On an incense warmer with a mesh screen and a tealight, burning stays milder and can be dosed for longer.

Can resins and herbs be burnt in the same way?

Not quite. Resins such as frankincense, myrrh or dragon's blood need a lot of heat and suit charcoal or a well-heated warmer. Finer herbs and house blends smoulder more slowly on the mesh screen.

What equipment do I need to burn incense?

The basics are a fireproof vessel or warmer, a safe surface and, depending on the method, sand, charcoal, a mesh screen or tongs. Air the room briefly afterwards.

How do I find the right incense blend?

Start by choosing by scent, ingredients and the use you have in mind. If you are unsure, we advise you in the shop or by email, based on the product name or a photo.

Unsure about choosing or using it?

Behind the online shop is our shop at Marktgasse 7. For stones and incense we stick to material, fragrance, shape and safe use.
